Plas Mawr (1), High Street, Conwy, Caernarfonshire, Wales

Plas Mawr, Conwy, Caernarfonshire, Wales, Great Britain
Plas Mawr, Conwy.

This view, looking down towards the High Street, is from the top of the very narrow Crown Lane which runs along the side of the house and shows the rather fine oriel windows.

If you note that the house runs from just behind the camera down to the street at the bottom you will realise just how big it really is.

The Lower Courtyard, Plas Mawr, Conwy, Caernarfonshire, Wales, Great Britain
Plas Mawr, Conwy.

This view shows the Lower Courtyard which is just behind the Gatehouse. The obvious arch leads through the Gatehouse from the main entrance door in the High Street.

The steps to the left lead up to the main entrance of the actual house.

The Tudor Gentleman is playing a Rauschpfeife.

The Main Door, Plas Mawr, Conwy, Caernarfonshire, Wales, Great Britain
Plas Mawr, Conwy.

This is the main door, from the Lower Courtyard, into the house proper. The date 1585 can be seen on the shield above the door.

On our previous visit we didn't have time to look inside but on this visit we did. Our impressions? This is a 'must see' and you will want to kick yourself hard if you don't see. You won't get the opportunity to visit anything like this anywhere else in the country.
