This is the entrance to Peak Cavern which is the largest natural cave entrance in Great Britain and is also known locally as "The Devil's Arse". You can see that the entrance booth, where you pay your entrance fee, is rather dwarfed by the cave.

Just inside the entrance there is a very large cavern where you can see rope making equipment which was used by a whole community, who also lived here, making ropes for the local lead mines for more than 400 years. At the bottom of the rock face on the left is Peakshole Water as it emerges from the cave.

At the back of the entrance cavern are these steps which take you down into the far reaches of the cavern. The small figure at the top of the steps shows the scale.
