|Parking for Dovedale, Derbyshire.||Location map|
There is a privately run car park with space for over 200 cars at the entrance to Dovedale and I understand that the charge is £2.00 per car for as long as you like. There are toilet facilities and a refreshment kiosk selling ice-creams.
There is parking in Ilam and it is approximately a one and a quarter mile walk to Dovedale. The car park in Ilam is owned by the National Trust and so parking charges apply, however it is free for National Trust members. The Visitor Centre at Ilam can be contacted on (0)1335 350245.
There are two free car parks near to the Tissington Trail which are about a mile and a half from Dovedale. These are Thorpe Station (map ref SK165503) and Narlows Lane (Map ref SK163504). Thorpe Station is the larger car park and has access onto the Tissington Trail whereas Narlows lane is an informal grass and limestone chippings car park. Information for both these car parks can be found at the Peak National Park Authority
There is free parking in Milldale village at the other end of Dovedale which would then mean a four mile walk through Dovedale to reach the stepping stones.
Information based on our visit in 2007.
