The sides of the dale in the upper part of Biggin Dale were covered in Cowslips together with a good sprinkling of Early Purple Orchids in the latter half of May when we were there.

Further down the dale it starts to become more rocky and weathering causes small lumps of limestone to break off and form the scree seen here on the sides.

The bushes with the white blossom are Hawthorn.

This view is from part way up Gipsy Bank in Wolfscote Dale looking back at Biggin Dale coming in at top right. The upper reaches of Wolfscote Dale are hidden by the rock outcrop at top left.

This is the view from the cave opposite Gipsy Bank. Just down to our left is the bridge and stepping stones across the River Dove to Gipsy Bank.

You can see the footpath through Wolfscote Dale at the bottom of the picture and, if you look carefully, you can also see it passing below the rock outcrop on the right in the distance. You can also see the lower part of the path that climbs up to this point.
