We started our walk from here going down the open grass and into the forest towards Baldwins Pond. The places mentioned on this trip can be seen on the location map, link at the top of the page, so you may want to open the map first (opens in new window).

Baldwins Pond, Epping Forest.
There was no wind when we were here and, consequently, the water surface was like a mirror.

The Clay Road or Ride, Baldwins Hill, Epping Forest.
This path runs from the top of Baldwins Hill, crosses the Green Ride, passes near Loughton Camp and ends when it meets the Epping New Road.

Some rather splendid Beech trees glowing in the dappled autumn sunlight. Each group of trunks is, in fact, a single tree.
