View from St. Catherine's Hill looking across Twyford Down.
On the right of the picture, on the lower ground, you will see two footpaths forming a 'T'. The leg of the 'T' is the end of the path down the hill, which starts just in front of the camera, and the top of the 'T' is part of the Itchen Way next to the River Itchen which is hidden in the trees.

The path is steep here so steps have been provided to make it easier. They may look a little daunting but they gave us no trouble - but then we were coming down!

This path, which starts at the foot of the steps shown above, goes up the valley, across the M3 motorway on a footbridge, and on to Twyford Down.

View on top of St. Catherine's Hill.
Looking towards Twyford Down the underlying chalk can be seen in the footpath where the vegetation has been worn away by walkers. The valley on the right is the one shown in the picture above.
