The grave of Jane Austen lies in the North Aisle. She died in Winchester, having lived briefly just outside the cathedral close.

Situated under the crossing arch in the north transept, not far from the crypt entrance, this chapel dates from about 1200. The vault and the chapel walls are decorated with wall paintings.

The crypt entrance is in the North Transept. The crypt is Norman and is flooded when the water table is high and the water level, I understand, rises to just above the figure's knees.
