||We stayed at this inn for the duration of our 3 day visit to the Peak District in May
2005. This is really a very nice and inexpensive inn that serves very good food and it's meals are
obviously very popular locally with the car park filling up rapidly at meal times.
It is located on the A6013 about a mile north of Bamford and very near the southern end of the
Ladybower reservoir. The road is the only disadvantage and although the traffic is not continuous
vehicles go past at frequent intervals during the day. The traffic reduces to virtually nothing
overnight but does start up again early in the morning. We didn't find this to be much of a problem
because the weather wasn't so warm that we felt we needed the windows open. If the weather was such
that the windows were open all night then some of you may find that you're woken up earlier than you'd
||The advantages are that it cost us only £306 for two for 3 nights including food and
that the surrounding country is very attractive. This view is from the top of Win Hill behind the hotel.
Somewhere at the left-hand end of the small group of houses below is the Yorkshire Bridge Inn and you can
see the southernmost tip of the Ladybower Reservoir on the left of the picture within easy walking
distance of the inn.
Our room was moderately sized and not in the least cramped. The bathroom was all that one should expect
and the decor was of a high standard throughout.
I could not find anything to criticise with regard to the food and service if I tried. They had some
interesting choices including sausages made from wild boar and a 'Chicken Tandoori Sizzler' that had to be
served on two plates!
We would recommend this inn unhesitatingly because of it's exceptionally good value.
They do have their own web page
