The house was remodeled by Robert Adam from 1764–1779 when the Library, also known as the 'Great Room', was added. It is one of his most famous interiors and it certainly is impressive.

The 'Library' was also intended as a room for entertaining guests.

The Music Room which, like the other rooms, has a very impressive display of notable paintings by Vermeer, Rembrandt, Frans Hals, Landseer and Gainsborough to name but a few.
