Somerset

The County of Somerset, in the south west corner of England, is part of the 'West Country' together with Devon and Cornwall.

We stayed at Porlock Weir which is on the coast about 1.5 miles from Porlock village. Porlock is about 9 miles east of the Devon border and is slightly inland of the coast. This area is also home to the West Somerset Steam Railway.

Lynton and Lynmouth are just over the Devonshire border and Exmoor, which straddles the Somerset/Devon border, is, of course, Lorna Doone country.
