The steps down to the shore at Hope Gap on Seaford Head. The shore is accessible only at low tide as this area is normally covered by the sea at high tide.

This shows the wave-cut platform where the sea has eroded the chalk cliffs. The overlying brown sediments in the cliffs, known as loess, from the Quaternary period are clearly visible. These are wind blown weathered sand and soil which have accumulated in the chalk valleys.

The Seven Sisters seen from the shore at Hope Gap below Seaford Head. There are many large lumps of chalk which have fallen from the cliff because of erosion. The small person, in the white top, directly in front of the camera is the intrepid Amanda.
