| Parking in Staithes, Yorkshire. |
When parking in Staithes you have two choices.
1. Parking in the Staithes Lane (Bank Top) car park - Chargeable. Location map
Car Parking charges apply from 9.00am until 6.00pm during the period of operation. Scarborough District Council, in whose area Staithes lies, provide details of parking charges (Look for 'Bank Top Staithes'). You will then have to walk down the hill into Staithes.
Parking in the Scarborough District is, without doubt, expensive and the charges for Staithes are seasonal which means the council is hoping to relieve visitors of as much money as they can.
2. Parking in the Cowbar Lane car park - Free. Location Map
On the other side of Staithes, across the beck, is Cowbar and you have to use a different road to get there by car. Near the end of Cowbar Lane, before it starts to descend into Staithes, is a small road off to the left which leads into a free car parking area on the cliff top. You will then walk only as far as you would with the Bank Top Car Park so you are no worse off in that respect.
Information and charges based on our visit in 2007.
