Penrhyn Castle (3), Bangor, Caernarfonshire, Wales

The top of the Grand Staircase, as you might expect, is finished with a grand flourish in the form of a decorated ceiling with a small cupola.

There are a number of corridors on the higher levels and this one seems to go on for ever. It seems to be the sort of place that one could get lost in - but we didn't.

The State Bedroom is certainly spacious and has its own dressing room. This room was reserved for important guests and, with its luxuriously drafted four poster bed, would have been the height of comfort. The comfortable chairs would have been for an early or late tea in the bedroom and next door is a fully flushing early toilet which would have been flushed using rainwater.

This view of the Chapel is from a wooden balustrade, with steps, which separates it from the main chapel. There is a vaulted ceiling with the usual Norman style decoration although there is not as much decoration as some of the other rooms.
