This window, dating from around 1200, provided light for the stairs on the other side of the wall that went up to what was the monks dormitory in the old abbey.

The Chapter House Vestibule, Chester Cathedral.
This construction, which is of considerable architectural interest, dates from about 1200 and is one of the earliest examples of piers running into vaults without any intervening capitals.
