Comment about the Nave, Church of St. Nicholas, Castle Hedingham, Essex
Yes, my daughters Kathryn and Rosemary, helped me to make a wonderful trip to Castle Heddingham Keep, and to St.Nicholas Church. We took many pictures, but not one of the rood screen itself; only shots of the fascinating carvings. So, with great joy I find your lovely pictures, of the Church from Churchponds, and of the whole magnificent rood screen in place.
Most grateful. How does it come that these were not destroyed in the time of Henry VIII and the further stripping of the alters? Thank whomever, whatever kind fate...We are as you might guess, devotees of the de Vere authorship thesis. Nothing we saw here would dissuade us, certainly.
