"In Colchester we arrived Friday about mid-day and left Colchester Sunday 3:00 pm. So we had more than 2 full days. The hotel was a good choice, too. Perhaps its a little bit too busy, because many restaurant visitors and societies go there. But I would choose it doubtless again. Allow me to say, that often british hotels don't have the best reputation. But this was not true for The George. Colchester is fantastic. A lot to see. Old roman wall, Norman buildings, busy shopping centres, wonderful castle park and castle. Very good traffic connections. If we stayed 2 days longer, we would have done a London trip. The railway takes only 45 minutes to London. The historic buildings are very well cared for. Nice and friendly people (above 30 years old). The siege house was very impressive.

Very very nice!

We visited the East Anglian Railway museum in Chappel (nice for railway fans) and the Beth Chatto gardens, because you recommended it (really great, something for a few hours or the whole day, if enough time). Every day after our sightseeing we had a 'cream tea' in the small hotel garden. We will never forget that. It was marvellous and absolutely new for us (the scones with jam and cream)."

Norman castles is the popluar castle in Colchester around the area. The Normans kept the beautiful castle in the Colchester. The beautiful Norman castle was built in Hard Stones so the beautiful stay up and make it stronger again.
