Comment about the Old Wool Hall, Lavenham, Suffolk

Hi,

I had relatives in Lavenham, years ago. They lived in Lady Street and I wondered if it was possible they lived in this building - they were the Beetons. Also I have a crest which looks like a flower of some sort and is on the jacket of someone I presume to be a relative. If you have any more information on my family of Beetons or the crest, it would be much appreciated. Yours truly, Margaret Green

I don't know enough about that building to say whether or not it has been used as a house. It's original purpose was that of a Wool Hall which makes it a non-domestic building but it was in a parlous state by the early part of the 20th century. It was eventually rescued and restored and now forms part of the Swan Inn. There are a number of other houses in Lady Street. What makes you think that it may have been this one?

If you have a photograph of the crest and you can email it to me I'll see if I can find out anything about it for you.
