Comment about a large Oak Tree, Savernake Forest, Marlborough, Wiltshire

A short detour from the busy A4 road along the Grand Avenue is well worthwhile, and it is possible to park in many places along it in order to explore the forest on foot. There are many characterful veteran oaks, beeches and other native trees to find in this extensive area of ancient woodland, one of the largest in Southern England.
