If you had (or maybe you did but just don't show the photos here) walked up to the left past the front (back?) of the butt and oyster you would find a track that eventually meets the river at a lovely collection of River Gypsy boats mored up. Most seem really well established with private paths and letterboxes on the path. Others look to be abandoned and one was actually what looked to be a floating scrapyard. This was all circa 4-5 years ago so they may not be there still. But if you return it is well worth a look.

Actually Pin Mill is part of Chelmo, there is no real boundary line between the two. The pictures are really good though :) A little tip, the Butt and Oyster got taken over 3 years ago when i was about 9 and the new owners turned it into an oddly comercial, fake sailors pub. It was much better when it smelled of smoke and the village Christmas Carols were held in the bar. Go to the Pin Mill sailing club because the drinks are about half the price of the Butt and the view is amazing from the decking outside. Every Friday in summer we have a Sun Down there with a BBQ and mud races.

A 1991 bicycle trip to search out wooden boat builders on the east coast of the UK brought me to a b&b in Chelmondiston and then to PIN mill, I was sure I had died and went to heaven. The highlight of my trip.
