Comment about Ye Olde Black Bear, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire
I have done considerable reseaarch on the history of Tewkesbury licensed premises and in no other place have I ever found any reference to the playwright William Shakespeare having visited Tewkesbury, let alone having performed at the Black Bear.
For an extensive article on the Black Bear and all other Tewkesbury pubs, past and present, take a look at http://www.tewkesburyhistory.com/tewkesburypubs.html. This subsection of tewkesburyhistory.com contains the most comprehensive and accurate information available anywhere in print or on the internet.
