At the seaward end of the pier there is another small structure off to one side - this is the Lifeboat Station. You can see the ramp down which the lifeboat slides when it is launched. The lifeboat crew's access to this building is via a walkway from the pier.

There is a nice decking area at the end of the pier with plenty of bench seating which would be a pleasant place to sit on a warm day.

There is a collection of buildings at the beginning of the pier which includes a cafe. We tried it for morning coffee and enjoyed our short stay.

The cafe includes some of the original Victorian fittings and we noted particularly the chandeliers which were rather impressive.
Amanda is standing on the right looking longingly at the cakes.
