Bourton-on-the-Water (2), Gloucestershire, England

Although a number of visitors can be seen here this is a relatively quiet spot for Bourton. The riverside path swaps from one side of the River Windrush to the other via one of Bourton's many bridges however if you like quiet villages in summer then Bourton is not the place for you.

A view of Bourton from the high ground on our walk from Lower Slaughter. Apart from having a look at Bourton we were going there to catch a bus back to Stow-on-the-Wold.
The weather on this walk was very hot and it was a relief to be able to get into the shade whenever we could. It was uncomfortable up here in the open but the trees further down offered relief.

Near the village centre there are inevitably more people. The reason for two bridges being so close is that the nearer one is a footbridge and the farther one carries a road.

Yet another footbridge over the River Windrush. These bridges are not identical and sport varying numbers and sizes of arches and different shapes.
