The main road through Solva, very near to where the bus stops, with it's colour-washed shops.

Walking up a little lane near where the main road crosses the River Solva we came across this pretty corner.

The River Solva and the road bridge. The countryside round about here has virtually no trees probably because of the strong winter winds but in this sheltered valley there are plenty of trees and just the other side of the road bridge there is even a small wood.
This deep valley has not been cut by the river but, as I understand, by melt water from glaciers during the last ice age.
