The County of Rutland

Rutland is the smallest county in England being no more than 18 miles from north to south and only 17 miles from east to west and has adopted the Latin motto Multum In Parvo or "much in little". There are only two towns in Rutland, Oakham and Uppingham, the rest being villages set in gently rolling agricultural landscapes. The county is dominated by Rutland Water which is about the same size as Lake Windermere in the Lake District.
