Now there's a nice piece of heavy machinery for you. This is a Shire Horse at the start of a harnessing demonstration. These horses were the 'tractors' of their day in the Victorian period.

The Steam Winding Engine, Blists Hill, Ironbridge, Shropshire, England, Great Britain
Blists Hill, Ironbridge.

This is the steam winding engine for the mine shaft. It was working when we were there and the man who controls it can be seen at the back. Part of the winding drum can be seen on the right behind the green flywheel.

Outside one can see the shaft headgear with the cage which disappears into the depths and eventually reappears.
