Fish Street.

At one end of Butcher Row is the junction with Fish Street which is another cobbled medieval street. The top end of Grope Lane can be seen on the right of the picture. The flat stones running parallel to each other along the street were laid to enable horse-drawn carriages to run smoothly on the cobbled surface.

At the top of Bear Steps.

'Bear Steps' is supposedly named after a pub called 'The Bear' of which no trace remains. The timber-framed building on the right dates from the late 14th century and is said to be the oldest building in Shrewsbury. This area is at the top of Bear Steps and the steps lead down to Grope Lane.

Wyle Cop, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England, Great Britain
Wyle Cop.

Wyle Cop, a street in Shrewsbury, suffered from a great fire in the late 14th century and, consequently, these buildings date from the early 15th century. Wyle is medieval English for hill and Cop means 'top of'.

The three storey building on the right is Henry Tudor House built about 1460.
