Thames Sailing Barges, Maldon.
There are normally seven sailing barges based at Maldon. However, although 'Reminder' in this picture is one of the resident barges, 'Ethel Ada' is actually a visting barge. Reminder was built in 1929, is 85 feet long with a 20 foot beam and normally carries 12 passengers on mostly weekend trips. All trips must be booked in advance.

'Hydrogen' was built in 1906, is 96 feet long with a 25 foot beam and will carry up to 50 passengers on, mostly, day trips. This is the largest wooden barge still sailing. All trips must be booked in advance.

This view is from the deck of the barge 'Glenway' which has an exhibition, below decks, telling the story of these barges from the 1800s to the turn of the century.
