All Saints Church.
Built of flint and stone this church is unique because of its 12th Century triangular tower. The vicar of Purleigh Church, Lawrence Washington, who was the great, great grandfather of George Washington, first president of the United States, is buried here.

Thames Sailing Barges, The Hythe Quay, Maldon.
These barges, with their distinctive red ochre sails, have unusual names such as 'Hydrogen', 'Repertor', 'Thistle' and 'Reminder'. Visitors are able to take trips on a number of these barges which include both day trips and trips which include overnight stays. Once the East Coast's traditional cargo vessel, at the turn of the century the fleet numbered over 2,000, today only a handful survive.
