Braintree and Bocking (5), Essex, England

Wentworth House, Bradford Street, was probably built in the second half of the 14th century. Since that time alterations have been made in the 16th and 17th centuries.

Maysent House, Bradford Street, has an 18th century facade which conceals an earlier construction of the 15th century. There are indications that part of the building was once a 'wool hall' and it was used as a public House, The Queens Head, for many years.

No. 40 Bradford Street shows an impressive 18th century facade but this conceals a timber-framed building from around 1400. The roof was rebuilt in the late 17th century.
