This shows the West Tower which was where the Bishop had his private rooms.
The palace has actually been rebuilt three times.

William of Wykeham, Bishop of Winchester, died in the palace in 1404. Its present condition is largely due to its capture by the Roundheads during the Civil War leaving these imposing ruins.
