The Coast between Whitesands and Porthstinian (St. Justinian), Pembrokeshire, Wales

The Celtic Coaster, Whitesands, St. David's, Pembrokeshire, Wales, Great Britain
Whitesands.

This is the little Celtic Coaster bus which brought us from St. David's to Whitesands car park. This car park is a very large one but fills up quickly. There is also a cafe here which was very handy after we had walked from here to St. David's Head and back. We were able to have a light lunch here before continuing our walk to Porthstinian.

On the coast path, Whitesands, St. David's, Pembrokeshire, Wales, Great Britain
Whitesands to St. David's Head.

Having just got on to the coast path we look back towards the island of Ramsey, the bit on the horizon with the two humps, which we will be walking past later on the walk. We are first heading west to St. David's Head then returning to Whitesands where we intend to continue on east to Porthstinian. We hope to catch the Celtic Coaster bus from there back to St. David's.

A little bay near Whitesands, St. David's, Pembrokeshire, Wales, Great Britain
Whitesands to St. David's Head.

On our way west to St. David's Head we see one of many little bays which are often inaccessible from the cliff tops.

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path varies tremendously along it's length and in a few places there is less than 3 feet between the path and the edge of the cliff with a field boundary wall on the other side preventing you from moving further inland. Generally, though, in most places there is plenty of room.

Looking back to Whitesands, St. David's, Pembrokeshire, Wales, Great Britain
Whitesands to St. David's Head.

Looking back to Whitesands. The two fingers of rock jutting out into the sea are probably igneous intrusions (lava) which being harder than the surrounding rock are less prone to erosion.
