Can the world survive this?

I have just bought a new pair of walking trousers which were delivered today. ‘So what?’ I hear you say. These are double zip-off trousers where detaching the bottom section gives a leg length which reaches down about half-way between ankle and knee but detaching the next section converts them to shorts.

What on earth is the world going to think of the sight of me in shorts? :(

Will it survive the experience?

  1. What a good idea! Never have to worry about legs getting cold if the weather turns nasty. The edges of the pants…zippers? No chance of getting scratched, I hope.

With the amount of walking trips you enjoy, these pants were probably made with you in mind.

  2. Remember TR that when you’re on this site you’re in England and if you start talking about mens pants you’ll get yourself into trouble.

    However back to the trousers.

The zips have a small flap of fabric which covers the zip both inside, to protect the leg, and outside to protect the zip from inclement weather. The leg sections are also labelled ‘left’ and ‘right’ so that they go back in the correct place.

The good part is that these trousers normally sell for 45 pounds but I bought mine on ebay for 25 pounds – bargain. :D

  3. You will love these “trousers”. I have a pair. When you really get going on your hike and you and the weather warms up, just zip off the bottom half. I am sure we have all seen worse legs.

Now what is wrong with the term pants?

  4. Did you notice, though, that these trousers zip off in two stages? When you start to get hot the bottom section can be removed and then, when there is steam coming out of your ears, the next section can be removed converting them to shorts

You obviously admit that there must be “worse” legs – well now you know where to find them. :)

Nothing at all – but over here, as I’m sure you’re aware, the term is applied to underclothes and not outer wear.

  5. I was not aware that pants were underwear over there. What kind of a girl do you think I am??!!
