Amanda is for the chop!

Amanda is for the chop!

Tomorrow, Monday, Amanda is going into hospital for some butchery, sorry, surgery on her foot to alleviate a bunion problem. She will be coming back home the same day but it may be at least 2-3 months before her foot is back to normal.

This will obviously put a stop to our travelling for a while and we shall just have to wait and see how she progresses.

  1. Give Amanda my best wishes for a speedy recovery. Remember, for her to achieve that, YOU must do all the fetching, cooking, cleaning…..

Let’s see – 2 to 3 months, yes that should be enough time for her to be up and about for when the invasion from New England happens

  2. Hmmm! Lets see. If my wife, Diane, gets laid-off (that’s put on involuntary vacation without pay) from the bank, she may be willing to come over to do the “cooking, cleaning and fetching” for you :?:

That means I’ll be alone  Maybe we CAN work something out

  3. "Remember, for her to achieve that, YOU must do all the fetching, cooking, cleaning" Nothing changes then. Thanks for your good wishes Marie. Old Guy – might take you up on that offer. :???: Latest update: Amanda is back home again with a heavily bandaged foot, a funny shoe and a pair of crutches.

Best wishes to you, Amanda! Here’s hoping the past two weeks have been livable, especially with you-know-who doing the cooking

Barry…shame on you making the comment that Amanda was sporting ‘a funny shoe’. Tisn’t chivalrous to make fun of a lady’s footwear…especially when she didn’t have any choice in the matter :???: I’ve sure you’ve made it up to her.

Either way, here’s hoping life is getting easier!

  5. Thank you both, from Amanda, for your good wishes. This is you-know-who here. The first three days were the worst but after that she found that she could get around (slowly) without crutches. The best bit, though, is that she hasn't had any pain and she can now do some cooking. Amanda goes back to the hospital, for a brief checkup on the foot, next Tuesday 18th when the dressing is changed for something a little less bulky but she still has to wear the 'funny shoe' for another four weeks. At that point 'they' decide whether she can then leave 'that shoe' off and, I think, go back to normal shoes. However she still has to get used to walking on that foot. It isn't a quick cure. :unhappy: If she is fully fit by next spring we are thinking of going into hiding to avoid the invasion.

I am thoroughly insulted  But then maybe you did not mean me. I was saying all sorts of nice things about you to Lisa yesterday as we were getting our plans together. Tentative plans are for the first week in April – maybe arriving on April Fools day – how appropriate  That’s to save you from a wise crack!
